Long Hiatus Over

Okay calling it a long hiatus is an understatement. 5 years to be exact. Wow, time does fly. A lot has happened in 5 years. While I’m tempted to give an update on what’s been happening, I don’t want to overwhelm you guys. 5 years, that’s 1,825 days, yo.

I will update in small doses, for the small contingent of readers who care. But I have to ask one thing, I hope you will update me too. I see the Google Analytics stats. You guys are out there perusing this blog and I would like you to know that I don’t take that for granted. I genuinely would love to hear about you. So if you’d so kind as to comment below with your name (or pseudonym, I don’t really care LOL) and one thing that’s good about 2018 so far. I’d like to keep the good vibes flowing in this place.

So why revive this baby now? For one, I miss writing. It’s basically my inner core – I’m a writer at heart. Words just come naturally to me. I don’t always process emotions really well but somehow if I put things to paper (or screen for that matter), things make more sense. I always said that if life has become Def Con 1 level of suck, I’ll disappear somewhere and just write for a living.

Not that I quit writing altogether. Just writing publicly. I have an ongoing paper journal that I regularly update and a personal travel blog – Jamie Goes Places that I have yet to update regularly. I know, I have a tendency to let life get in the way. LOL Contrary to popular belief, blogging isn’t my full-time job. I juggle a lot of balls in the air so I’m extremely grateful that you guys bear with me.

If you guys haven’t tried journaling, I would highly recommend it. Journaling helps you prioritize, clarify thinking, and accomplish your most important tasks, over urgent busy work. Plus, it gives you a chance to pause and reflect about events and situations we find ourselves in and the emotional charges we assign to them. Countless research studies have shown that journaling help people better cope with stressful events, relieve anxiety and boost immune cell activity. And if that’s not enough to convince you to adopt this habit, some of the most brilliant thinkers of our time – like Isaac Newton, Abraham Lincoln, Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, Benjamin Franklin, Ernest Hemingway, and Maya Angelou, just to name a few – journal. So you’ll be in great company.

Sorry, I didn’t mean for this to be a PSA on journaling. I would say that one update is that I’m back in Miami. For 3 years now. I came back in 2015 after receiving an offer from the agency I used to work in. They gave me a relocation package (bribe LOL) that I couldn’t refuse so I hauled ass back here. To be honest, it’s been one hell of a ride. But I’ll give you guys more updates in the upcoming entries.

For now, I’ll leave you with a picture of my kitties. Yes, I have 2 now. They drive me crazy and keep me sane at the same time.
